With all of the spiritual themes strewn throughout Ridley Scott’s Prometheus, it was only a matter of time before someone in The Vatican flipped his shroud. Read on for the latest kerfuffle.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Vatican’s official newspaper attacked Scott’s film, taking issue with the film’s premise about the origins of mankind and saying it is “a bad idea to defy the gods.

L’Osservatore Romano, the Vatican’s official newspaper, said Prometheus “mishandles the delicate questions raised by … the battle eternal between good and evil in yet another attempt to steak the secret of immortality.” The newspaper also said that “the journey of Prometheus should instead symbolize the search for the supernatural,” referring to the original hero of Greek mythology who is said to have created man from clay.

    • Yeah, what’s up with that? They love little boys but not little girls? Little girls are so cute (in a non-sexual way (it depresses me that I even have to add that)). Is it because they mostly have access to little boys? Do nuns fiddle with little girls?

Nuns are sexy. I’d fiddle with them.

  1. “The Vatican’s official newspaper [said] it is “a bad idea to defy the gods.””

Even worse, for the monotheistic Vatican, is to have an official newspaper that is open to the belief in “gods” plural. That’s exactly the sort of heretical thinking that angered their loving god so much that he flooded the world and visited it with multiple plagues like a dog owner smacking a puppy’s nose with a rolled up newspaper until it stopped shitting in the living room.

  2. Oh please a man made from clay is no more supernatural than a woman formed form a rib. The only reason to dislike the movie is because it’s so colossally stupid and inept.
