Trailer: Netflix’s New Sherlock Holmes-ish Series THE IRREGULARS
Netflix will release their new series The Irregulars on Friday, March 26th. And today we have the first teaser trailer for you to check out. Give it a look-see below.
Written and created by Tom Bidwell (Watership Down). It features characters from Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes. But with a supernatural YA twist.
Bidwell tells EW: “We set out with that intention, why can’t they go into what is predominantly a man’s world and kick a bit of ass? I wanted to stay away from things that are classic period Victorian, more like Dickensian stuff. I wanted to make it feel exciting and scary and very, very fresh so these characters are very accessible to a modern audience. They have problems that we have, they don’t speak in a period way, they speak to each other in a more contemporary way than you would probably expect from a Victorian adaptation.”
Here’s the official synopsis via Netflix. A dark, mysterious eight-part dram. It follows a gang of troubled street teens who are manipulated into solving crimes for the sinister Doctor Watson. And his mysterious business partner, the elusive Sherlock Holmes. But the crimes take on a horrifying supernatural edge and a dark power emerges. Now The Irregulars (based on the Baker Street Irregulars gang from the books) must come together to defeat larger-than-life forces.
