Old tells the tale of a family on a tropical holiday who discover that the secluded beach where they are relaxing is somehow causing them to age rapidly – reducing their entire lives into a single day. It’s inspired by the graphic novel Sandcastle by Pierre Oscar Levy and Frederik Peeters. Gael García Bernal stars with Rufus Sewell, Abbey Lee, Alex Wolff, Embeth Davidtz, and Thomasin McKenzie.

Meanwhile, The Black Phone is based on his son Joe Hill’s short story. It centers on a guy who is kidnapped and thrown in a basement stained with the blood of a dozen murdered children. With him in his cell is an antique phone, long since disconnected…but it rings at night, anyway, with calls from the dead. Derrickson and Jason Blum are producing. C. Robert Cargill (Sinister) will write the screenplay.

While it’s unknown when The Black Phone will be released, Old is scheduled to be released in the United States on July 23, 2021, by Universal Pictures.
