HBO Max’s New GREMLINS Animated Series Announces Voice Cast
HBO Max’s upcoming animated series, Gremlins: Secrets of the Mogwai still doesn’t have a release date or a trailer. But today we do know the voice cast!
Izaac Wang (Good Boys) will voice Sam, with A.J. LoCascio (Voltron) voicing Gizmo. Ming-Na Wen (The Mandalorian) plays Sam’s mother, Fong Wing. A doctor of Chinese medicine who is “resourceful, slyly funny and fiercely protective of her family.” Gabrielle Green (All That) will voice Elle, Sam’s best friend. Matthew Rhys (The Americans) voices Riley Greene, black magic, power-hungry industrialist. He will stop at nothing in his pursuit of Gizmo and the Mogwai treasure.
BD Wong (Jurassic World) will play Sam’s father, Hon Wing. A “calm rock” that has “never believed his father-in-law’s tales of magic and adventure.” James Hong (Big Trouble in Little China) will voice Grandpa Wing. He claims to have traveled the world on grand adventures and knows the true power (and secrets) of the Mogwai.

From executive producer Tze Chun, the first season runs ten episodes. It follows this synopsis: We travel back to 1920s Shanghai to reveal the story of how 10-year-old Sam Wing (future shop owner Mr. Wing in the 1984 movie) met the young Mogwai called ‘Gizmo.’ Along with a teenage street thief named Elle, Sam and Gizmo take a perilous journey through the Chinese countryside, encountering, and sometimes battling, colorful monsters and spirits from Chinese folklore. On their quest to return Gizmo to his family and uncover a legendary treasure, they are also pursued by a power-hungry industrialist and his growing army of evil Gremlins.
Gremlins and Gremlins 2 director Joe Dante will also act as a consultant. The animated series which is scheduled to arrive in 2021 on HBO Max.
