Eli Roth’s upcoming adaptation of the popular video game Borderlands will begin shooting this year. Cate Blanchett will play Lilith. And today we hear Kevin Hart (yes, that Kevin Hart) will Roland, “a skilled ex-soldier turned mercenary.”
Roth says: “I’m thrilled to be working with Kevin. Borderlands is a different kind of role for him, and we are excited to thrill audiences with a side of Kevin they’ve never seen before. He’s going to be an amazing Roland.”
Eli Roth (Cabin Fever) will helm this adaptation of the bestselling video game from a screenplay by Emmy-winner Craig Mazin (Chernobyl). Avi Arad, Ari Arad, and Erik Feig produce. Randy Pitchford and Strauss Zelnick are executive producers.
Borderlands is one of the world’s most successful video game franchises, with more than 57 million units sold-in worldwide, including over 22 million units of Borderlands 2. More than one million players every month still play the sequel. The most recent installment, Borderlands 3, was unleashed in September 2019, and has already sold-in nearly 8 million units worldwide and was honored with the award for Best Multiplayer Game at Gamescom.
