Denis Villeneuve Claims New DUNE Is By Far The Best Movie He’s Ever Made

Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s Dune hits theaters and HBO Max in October 2021. Yesterday, we learned it has been rated PG-13 for sequences of strong violence, some disturbing images, and suggestive material. And today, Villeneuve says Dune is by far the best movie he’s ever made.
He tells Variety: “Dune is by far the best movie I’ve ever made.”
He adds: “My team and I devoted more than three years of our lives to make it a unique big screen experience. Our movie’s image and sound were meticulously designed to be seen in theaters.” Read his full statement HERE.

Villeneuve directs Dune from a script he wrote with Eric Roth and Jon Spaihts, based on the novel. Chalamet, Ferguson, and Brolin’s co-stars include Oscar Isaac, Stellan Skarsgård, and Javier Bardem. Charlotte Rampling joins in with Dave Bautista, David Dastmalchian, Jason Momoa, Stephen Henderson, and Zendaya.
Dune finds Duke Leto Atreides accepts stewardship of the dangerous desert planet Arrakis. Also known as Dune. The only source of the most valuable substance in the universe, the spice. It’s a drug that extends life, provides superhuman thoughts, and makes space travel possible. Leto knows the opportunity is an intricate trap. But he takes his Bene Gesserit concubine Lady Jessica, young son and heir Paul, and most trusted advisers to Arrakis. Leto takes control of the spice mining operation. A bitter betrayal leads Paul and Jessica to the Fremen, natives of Arrakis who live in the deep desert. Dune hits theaters and HBO Max on October 1, 2021.
