Shockfest Announces More 2020 Nominees + Rob Zombie to Receive “Shocker Award”

Hollywood’s own 12 years running Shockfest Film Festival has just announced the nominees for Best Actor and Best Actress of 2020 for their ceremony taking place on December 11th. The event attendees will include Richard Grieco (21 Jump Street), Jonathan Lipnicki (Stewart Little), Michael ParĂ© (Streets of Fire), Vernon Wells (Mad Max 2 The Road Warrior), Ernest O’Donnell (Jay and Silent Bob), Adrienne King (Friday the 13th) and Dee Wallace (Child’s Play, E.T.).

This news dropped just a few short months after their major announcement that presenting Filmmaker/Rock Star Rob Zombie will receive their yearly award for the legends of the industry, The Shocker Award.  Recipients of The Shocker Award from past years include filmmakers Clive Barker (Hellraiser, Candyman) and Eli Roth (Cabin Fever, Hostel).

To top off this exciting list of nominees, Shockfest introduced a new award to be presented to TV icon Zak Bagans (Ghost Adventures), who will be the recipient of the Museum of Paranormal Exhibits and Artifacts Award.  This award was designed to highlight and celebrate the countless attractions and exhibits across the country whose purpose is to educate and entertain the public about the world of the unknown.  Over the past several years, The Zak Bagan’s Haunted Museum located in Las Vegas, NV has made a name for itself as a major bucket-list destination for all paranormal enthusiasts when visiting Sin City.

Shockfest has spent the past several months on tour across the United States working alongside local businesses and venues to turn the film festival circuit on its head during the COVID-19 global pandemic.  This began on July 27th, 2020 in Times Square, New York City where Shockfest broadcast posters of official festival submitters on the largest most high-tech billboard in the United States in the heart of the Crossroads of the World owned by Silvercast Media.

Every month following this ambitious feat, Shockfest has set up shop in a new city to showcase the work of independent filmmakers and content creators in similarly innovative and COVID conscious ways, following all health rules and guidelines put into place during each event.  This act is a direct response to the countless events that have shut down, rescheduled, or completely gone virtual in the middle of the most restrictive year this generation has ever faced.  The Shockfest stops of 2020 have included Manhattan NY, Salem MA, Las Vegas NV, Amarillo TX and now their final target is Hollywood CA, the place that birthed this underground festival over a decade prior.

The Shockfest team has declared on its weekly Facebook live-stream that it will be announcing new nominees every Friday until their main event on December 11th.  To keep up with more announcements such as these, be sure to like their Facebook page and check out their website for more updates and announcements regarding even more new surprises from the only active film festival still organizing live events in the heat of this global pandemic.
