Anya Taylor-Joy: Robert Eggers’ THE NORTHMAN Will Give Us Something Genuinely Unseen Before

Anya Taylor-Joy (Split, Glass, The New Mutants, Last Night in Soho) had her breakthrough with The Lighthouse director Robert Eggers The Witch and will soon reteam with the filmmaker on his upcoming Viking epic The Northman.

And she couldn’t be more excited.

She tells Collider: “[We] have now been friends longer than we have been co-workers. Getting the opportunity to create art together again is amazing. We have both grown so much apart and now we get to grow back together. I am so proud to be a part of this project… I think we will be presenting to the world something it genuinely hasn’t seen before. I just feel so humbled I get to be a a part of it.”

Taylor-Joy’s co-stars include Alexander Skarsgård (The Stand), Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse), Nicole Kidman (The Others), Ethan Hawke (The Purge), and Björk.

While plot details are scarce, we do know that it takes place in the 10th century and centers on a Nordic prince who seeks revenge after his father is murdered. Co-written with Icelandic poet/novelist Sjón, The Northman does not have an official release date but filming recently started near the eastern coast of Ireland.
