Epic Live-Action CONAN THE BARBARIAN Series Coming to Netflix
Netflix has announced that they are developing an epic live-action series based on Robert E. Howard’s iconic sword-and-sorcery character Conan the Barbarian.
Fredrik Malmberg and Mark Wheeler (Blood Drive) will executive produce the series and the search is on for a writer, showrunner, and director to tackle the project.
This new series is just the first step after Netflix cut a deal with Conan Properties International that gives the streaming giant the exclusive option to develop live-action and animated shows and movies from the Conan literary library.
Famously played by Arnold Schwarzenegger in Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer, Jason Momoa also played the role Marcus Nispel’s 2011 reboot.
Orphaned boy Conan is enslaved after his village is destroyed by the forces of vicious necromancer Thulsa Doom, and is compelled to push “The Wheel of Pain” for many years. Once he reaches adulthood, Conan sets off across the prehistoric landscape of the Hyborian Age in search of the man who killed his family and stole his father’s sword. With a beautiful warrior, he faces a supernatural evil.
We’ll make sure to keep up to date on this project and pass along further updates as we hear them. In the meantime, make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think in the comments below or over on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
