GHOST RIDER Returns To Netflix Next Week

Writer-director Mark Steven Johnson’s Ghost Rider with Nicolas Cage is set to return to Netflix on October 1st. No word on if they plan to add Marvel’s Ghost Rider Spirit Of Vengeance co-starring Idris Elba. Let’s f*cking hope not.

The film tells the tale of a motorcycle stuntman who sells his soul to save the life of a loved one. Now, he transforms into a fiery, avenging agent of justice at night wherever evil roams. As the only one who can walk in both worlds, Johnny Blaze is charged by Mephistopheles himself to destroy Blackheart, a demon that wants to create a worse hell than the one that currently exists.

Written and directed by Mark Steven Johnson (Simon Birch) based on the Marvel character created by Roy Thomas, Gary Friedrich, and Mike Ploog. Cage’s co-stars include Eva Mendes, Wes Bentley, Sam Elliot, Donal Logue, and Peter Fonda.

Rated PG-13 for horror violence and disturbing images, the film sports a 26% over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Ghost Rider is a sour mix of morose, glum histrionics amidst jokey puns and hammy dialogue.

Mark Steven Johnson’s Ghost Rider was released in the U.S. back on February 16, 2007. The film earned $45.3M opening weekend on it’s way to a total of $115.8M in North America and $228.7 worldwide. It was Columbia Pictures’ third Marvel movie following Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man with Tobey Maguire and Jonathan Hensleigh’s The Punisher with Tom Jane and John Travolta.
