Virtual Panel Series “Dissecting Horror” Continues with the Creatives of 12 HOUR SHIFT Wednesday 9/30 @ 6 PM (PST)

The next installment of the “Dissecting Horror” digital panel series will take place Wednesday, September 30th at 6 pm PST and be with the creative talent from Magnet Releasing’s upcoming film 12 Hour Shift.
Panelists include writer/director Brea Grant, composer/cinematographer Matt Glass, sound supervisor/re-recording mixer Jacob Bloomfield-Misrach, and one of the film’s stars Chloe Farnworth. Dread Central’s Michelle Swope will be moderating.
12 Hour Shift was included in the official selections for the Tribeca Film Festival and the Fantasia Film Festival. Brea Grant took home the “Best Screenplay” award at the Fantasia Film Festival. 12 Hour Shift will be released in theaters and On Demand October 2, 2020 and stars Angela Bettis, Chloe Farnworth, Nikea Gamby-Turner, David Arquette, Kit Williamson, Dusty Warren, Mick Foley, Tara Perry, Brooke Seguin, Thomas Hobson, Tom DeTrinis, Thomas Hobson, and Julianne Dowler.
Synopsis:
It’s 1998 and over the course of one night at an Arkansas hospital, a junkie nurse, her scheming cousin and a group of black market organ-trading criminals get caught up in a heist gone wrong.
“Dissecting Horror” will be streamed on Dread Central’s Facebook page through Facebook Live. The panel will also be made available on our official YouTube channel.
Background
Dread Central and Jordan von Netzer of Projection PR launched the “Dissecting Horror” digital panel series April 15th with a focus on horror film scores. Panelists included composers Ronen Landa (Dark Sky Film’s 1BR), Devin Burrows (IFC’s The Wretched), Christian Davis (Vertical Entertainment’s Behind You) and Rafaël Leloup (IFC Films’ The Other Lamb). The second installment of the series took place May 6th and spotlighted the stunts of some of your favorite genre projects. Panelists included Emmy-winning stunt coordinator Hiro Koda (Netflix’s Stranger Things), stunt double and coordinator Jahnel Curfman (Netflix’s Bird Box), stunt coordinator Harry Dakanalis (Universal Pictures’ The Invisible Man) and stunt coordinator and double Jennifer Badger (The WB’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer). The third panel took place May 27th and focused on effects. Panelists included Heath Hood (special effects coordinator for Universal’s Halloween & Halloween Kills), Marcus Taormina (visual effects supervisor for Netflix’s Bright & Bird Box) and Jeremy Hays (special effects supervisor for Sony Pictures’ Once Upon a Time… in Hollywood, Warner Bros. Pictures’ Doctor Sleep) and Jason Piccioni (visual effects supervisor for Hulu’s Castle Rock, FX’s American Horror Story). The fourth panel on June 17th was centered around LGBTQ+ creatives for pride month. Panelists included John Berardo (writer/director of Initiation), Carla Patullo (composer of Porno), Paul Etheredge (director of Hellbent) and Chris Crane (production designer for Disappearance at Clifton Hill). The fifth panel took place on July 8th and was with the creatives of Followed. Panelists included director Antoine Le, composer Jason Soudah, writer Todd Klick and editor Matthew Brewbaker. The last panel was with the creatives of Gravitas Ventures’ Cruiser and consisted of director Randy Ser, writer Sam Hensley, Jr., art director Dustin Fletcher and the film’s star Shuler Hensley.
About the Panelists
Brea Grant, Writer/Director
Brea Grant is a multi-hyphenate best known for acting in Heroes and Dexter and for writing and directing the apocalyptic feature, Best Friends Forever, which premiered at Slamdance. In 2017, she became a producer on the Emmy-nominated LGBTQ series, Eastsiders, and in 2018, she wrote and directed an episode of the show.
One month after 12 Hour Shift wrapped in Arkansas, Brea starred in the film Lucky, which she also wrote. It is directed by Natasha Kermani (Imitation Girl) and was set to premiere at SXSW 2020 before it was cancelled due to COVID-19. 12 Hour Shift premiered at Tribeca 2020.
Brea has also directed many shorts, including the award-winning Feminist Campfire Stories and Megan, 26. She has also directed television for the CW and writes comic books. She continues to act and recently was in Jeremy Gardner’s After Midnight and just completed shooting Jill Sixx’s The Stylist across from Najarra Townsend.
Matt Glass, Cinematographer & Composer
Matt Glass is a filmmaker/composer and co-founder of the production company HCT.media. He has an MFA in Photography from Cranbrook Academy of Art. He has directed and composed music for several documentaries, including Fallujah: Art, Healing and PTSD and the television series Lost LA for which he and his business partner Jordan Long won several Los Angeles Area Emmy Awards. In 2017, he 2nd-unit directed Karen Gillan’s BAFTA-nominated feature directorial debut, The Party’s Just Beginning, and he scored and co-directed the feature film Squirrel. In 2019 he DPed, produced and scored the film 12 Hour Shift which premiered at Tribeca Film Festival. That year, he also scored several short films for filmmakers like Karen Gillan, Rose McIver and Brea Grant. In 2020, He co-directed, scored and produced the upcoming feature film Ghosts of the Ozarks which stars Tim Blake Nelson, David Arquette and Angela Bettis.
Jacob Bloomfield-Misrach, Sound Supervisor & Re-Recording Mixer
Jacob Bloomfield-Misrach is a composer and sound supervisor. He owns the post-production company IMRSV Sound, and has expanded the company nationally, partnering with Berkeley Sound Artists. Jacob now oversees 100 projects per year for clients like Marvel, Google, Apple, and Facebook, and won a Telly Award in 2016. He recently composed the score for the Slamdance Official Selection Majnuni, and was the Sound Supervisor for the 2020 Sundance Award-winning film, Crip Camp, which was released by Netflix and the Obama’s production company, Higher Ground. Other recent work includes You Cannot Kill David Arquette (Super LTD) and the thriller 12 Hour Shift (Magnet Releasing).
Chloe Farnworth, Actress
This year actress on the rise Chloe Farnworth can be seen starring in Magnolia Pictures’ stylish, dark comedy feature 12 Hour Shift, which was an official selection at The SXSW Film Festival (2020) and had its world premiere at The Tribeca Film Festival (US Narrative Competition). Appearing opposite David Arquette and Angela Bettis, the film is set in 1998 and follows Mandy (Bettis), a nurse at an Arkansas hospital, who is desperate to make it through her double shift without incident while also being involved in a black-market organ-trading scheme. When her hapless but dangerous cousin Regina (Farnworth) messes up a kidney delivery, chaos descends on the hospital as the cousins frantically try to secure a replacement organ through any means necessary.
Critics have praised Farnworth’s performance in 12 Hour Shift, saying: “Farnworth’s homicidal sexpot, by contrast, is the true monster here… she’s like Hannibal Lecter as played by Judy Holliday” (Variety), “delightfully unhinged…” (SlashFilm), “Chloe Farnworth is equally great as her beyond-dumb cousin…” (Den of Geek), “a delight… absolutely great” (Daily Dead), and “Farnworth’s performance is incredibly fun to watch” (The Knockturnal). 12 Hour Shift is set to be released on October 2, 2020 in movie theaters, drive-in theaters, and video on demand.
In television, Farnworth can next be seen as Leah Sims in the British-Canadian thriller series Departure which is set to premiere on September 17, 2020 in the US on Peacock. Additional credits for Farnworth include the indie crime feature film Other Monsters for which she won Best Actress at the Los Angeles Crime and Horror Film Festival, Bond of Justice: Kizuna, Nostalgia (Bleecker Street Media), Soy Nero, Thor: The Dark World (Marvel) and Linkin Park’s music video for their 2014 single, “Final Masquerade.”
Born in Ashperton, England and raised in Herefordshire, Farnworth grew up with an innate love for the arts and her parents enrolled in theatre classes at just ten years old. She attended the prestigious Royal Central School of Speech and Drama, joining the ranks as an alumni opposite other famous graduates including Joe Alwyn, Kit Harington, Carrie Fisher, Riz Ahmed, and Andrew Garfield, to name a few. She landed her first professional role as the Virgin Mary in Emily Warddill’s Full Firearms (2012) and has been working ever since.
When she isn’t on set, you can find Farnworth boxing, surfing, horseback riding, and baking. She also has an eye for design and has recently been renovating her home in Los Angeles.
