URBAN LEGEND Reboot Snags Katherine McNamara & Sydney Chandler

Screen Gems and What Keeps You Alive writer-director Colin Minihan’s Urban Legend reboot is eyeing Sydney Chandler and Katherine McNamara to star.

Best known for roles in Arrow and Shadowhunters, McNamara can be seen next in Josh Boone’s upcoming CBS All Access adaptation of Stephen King’s The Stand.

The daughter of Super 8 actor Kyle Chandler, Sydney Chandler will play the main protagonist. Keith Powers (Straight Outta Compton) is also being eyed for a role.

This update comes to us from Collider.

The reboot explores deepfake technology and moves to the franchise into the digital age, where urban legends spread like wildfire. More specifically, it centers on a diverse cast of college students as they navigate a series of bizarre deaths that resemble urban legends linked to the darkest corners of social media.

Minihan will write and direct the reboot which Mike Medavoy and Benjamin Anderson will produce. Eric Paquette and Michael Bitar will oversee for Screen Gems.
