LOVECRAFT COUNTRY Premiere Beats Stephen King’s THE OUTSIDER
HBO claims that Lovecraft Country premiered to stronger numbers than their hit adaptation of Stephen King’s The Outsider earlier this year.
The new series from Jordan Peele and J.J. Abrams debuted to the tune of 1.4 million total viewers while The Outsider gathered up 1.2 million.
That said, these numbers mark the first time HBO Max viewership has been added to the overall tally for a new show. So keep that in mind.
Anyhow, congrats, Lovecraft Country!
Lovecraft Country follows 25-year-old Koren war vet Atticus Black, who joins up with his friend Letitia “Leti” Dandridge and his Uncle George to embark on a road trip to find his missing father. Atticus, known for always having a pulp novel in his back pocket, wears his heart on his sleeve despite the daily injustice of living in the 1950s Jim Crow America. The trio must survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the malevolent spirits ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.
Peele and Abrams executive produce the series with showrunner Misha Green. It airs Sundays on HBO. Are you watching? Let us know in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram!
