Paramount will reissue Simon Wincer’s 1996 cult classic superhero flickThe Phantom with Billy Zane on Blu-ray on September 15th.

Based on Lee Falk’s comic strip, the film follows Kit Walker, the latest in a line of heroes known as The Phantom, whose powers are drawn from three ancient skulls, but now the Phantom’s enemies, the Pirates of the Sengh Brotherhood, have a new ally, the ruthless Xander Drax.
The film sports a 43% over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: The script gives Billy Zane little to work with, and thus he plays the Phantom as a friendly but completely one-dimensional hero.
Directed by Simon Wincer (Free Willy) from a screenplay written by Jeffrey Boam (The Lost Boys), it stars Billy Zane, Treat Williams, Kristy Swanson, Catherine Zeta-Jones, James Remar, and Patrick McGoohan.
