Michael Dougherty Shares Unmade KING OF THE MONSTERS In-Credits Scene with “Mothra Twins” & New Egg

Michael Dougherty planned a second in-credits scene for 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters, but it didn’t make it into the movie. The filmmaker, however, recently shared storyboards and script pages for this unmade scene. It features twin sisters Dr. Ilene Chen and Dr. Ling Chen (both played by Zhang Ziyi) reunited in the presence of a new egg–possibly containing Mothra 2.0! Synopsis:
Members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species-thought to be mere myths-rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
While Zhang Ziyi is part of the cast of Godzilla vs. Kong (currently slated for a May 2021 release) it’s uncertain how much the “Mothra Twins” and/or a new Mothra will figure into the film’s plot. Time will tell.
Synopsis:
Fearsome monsters Godzilla and King Kong square off in an epic battle for the ages, while humanity looks to wipe out both of the creatures and take back the planet once and for all.
Godzilla vs Kong is directed by Adam Wingard and stars Eiza González, Millie Bobby Brown, and Jessica Henwick.
