The final installment in Blumhouse’s hit The Purge horror franchise The Forever Purge was set to hit theaters on July 10th. But then…
Anyhow, today we learned the new movie hits July 9, 2021.
While there are no story details at this time, we do know the final entry is directed by Everardo Gout (Mars) from a screenplay written and co-produced by creator James DeMonaco. Josh Lucas, Ana de la Reguera, Tenoch Huerta, Leven Rambin, Will Patton, and Cassidy Freeman star.
The last time we saw the series on the big screen was in The First Purge.
To push the crime rate below one percent for the rest of the year, the New Founding Fathers of America test a sociological theory that vents aggression for one night in one isolated community. But when the violence of oppressors meets the rage of the others, the contagion will explode from the trial-city borders and spread across the nation.
The film sports a 56% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: The First Purge should satisfy fans of the franchise and filmgoers in the mood for violent vicarious thrills, even if its subtextual reach exceeds its grasp.
