The Social Network and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo director David Fincher’s passion project Mank may be unleashed on Netflix this October.
This release date has not been verified by Netflix.
Oscar-winning screenwriter Eric Roth (Forrest Gump, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button) broke the news, telling the Pardon My Take podcast:
“It’s an incredible piece. He did a black-and-white 30s movie. It looks like a 30s movie and feels like one.”
Based on a screenplay by his own father Jack Fincher, the film tells the true story behind the making of Citizen Kane, chronicling the relationship between Orson Welles and the film’s screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz.
The Fight Club director’s last film was Gone Girl with Ben Affleck, Rosamund Pike, Neil Patrick Harris, and Tyler Perry back in 2014.
Since then he has worked on Mindhunter and Love, Death & Robots.
