Netflix’s THE WITCHER Season 2 May Restart Filming In August

Like every other production out there, Netflix delayed filming on the upcoming second season of their hit adaptation of The Witcher due to COVID-19.

And today, Redanian Intelligence reports Netflix is now looking to restart production of The Witcher’s second season in the first week of August 2020.

We’ll keep you updated. Stay tuned!

The Witcher is produced by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich based on the books by Andrzej Sapkowski. Set on a fictional, medieval-inspired landmass known as “the Continent”, The Witcher explores the legend of Geralt of Rivia and princess Ciri, who are linked by destiny to each other. The show initially follows the three main protagonists at different points of time, exploring formative events that shaped their characters, before eventually merging into a single timeline.

The first season with Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra sports a 67% rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Though the world of The Witcher at times feels only half-formed, Henry Cavill brings brawny charisma to a series teeming with subversive fantasy elements and dark humor.

The eight-episode first season was released on December 20, 2019. It is based on The Last Wish and Sword of Destiny, which are collections of short stories that precede the main Witcher saga. Season 2 hits Netflix sometime in 2021.
