Capcom has announced a new release date for the forthcoming Resident Evil 6 on October 2, 2012 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 with a PC release to follow, and with this news came a ton of new information on the game and a super intense trailer.
Resident Evil 6 will present 3 separate story lines that eventually overlap and intertwine as the three groups fight to stop a global bio-terrorist outbreak. Resident Evil veteran Leon S. Kennedy will be teaming up with newcomer Helena Harper, as they fight to protect the President and eventually meet the other two groups on their way to China. Resident Evil veteran Chris Redfield heads the second group that is eventually dwindled down to Chris and fellow BSAA member Piers Nivans, as they face another deadly outbreak in Lanshiang, China. The third and probably most intriguing of the three groups will consist of former helpless little girl in need of an escort, now all grown up government agent, Sherry Birkin and her partner Jake Muller–son of notorious Resident Evil antagonist Albert Wesker, as they play their part in Eastern Europe tangling with a new and intimidating mystery antagonist.
Chris, Leon and Sherry won’t be the only classic characters bringing new friends and skills to the fight. The classic Resident Evil enemy–Zombies–will make their return in Resident Evil 6 as well, and these new look zombies can run, jump and even use weapons. In addition to these fierce new zombies, you’ll have to fight off new creatures know as J’avo. These baddies have the ability to restructure their bodies in order to regenerate when damaged or even mutate body parts into deadly weapons to use in battle. The C-Virus has also given rise to one other enemy called the Chrysalide–a nasty little being with the ability to spawn multiple creatures for our heroes to fight off.
The game will feature new controls that allow for many more sophisticated movements than past Resident Evil games including the ability to shoot while running, sliding rolling, ability to take cover and an enhanced melee attack. In addition to the return of a fully cooperative campaign, Resident Evil 6 will also see the return of the heralded Mercenaries mode.
