CHRONICLE Director Josh Trank Has Repeatedly Sabatoged Sequel

Director Josh Trank’s 2012 found-footage sci-fi thriller Chronicle with Dane DeHaan and Michael B. Jordan was pretty badass. So why did we never get a sequel? Well, it looks like Trank himself stood in the sequel’s way time and time again for fear someone else would f*cking it all up.

Trank recently revealed why he continuously sabotaged the sequel, telling Polygon: “I made it difficult for them to set up meetings. I was dodgy about stuff. I did a lot of shitty things. Because I really didn’t ever want to see Chronicle 2 happen. That was my worst nightmare. First of all, I’m not doing it. Second, if somebody else does it, then you know it’s gonna be a piece of shit.

For those that might not know, the original film centered on Andrew (Dane DeHaan), a socially awkward, introverted teen whose main form of escape and expression is a video camera. But things begin to change when Andrew, his cousin Matt (Alex Russell) and popular classmate Steve (Michael B. Jordan) discover a mysterious substance that leaves them with incredible powers. As their abilities become more powerful, the teens’ lives spin out of control when their darker sides begin to emerge. Andrew’s camera captures the unfolding events.
