Sleepwalkers and Villiage of the Damned actor Mark Hamill will portray an ancient vampire in What We Do in the Shadows season 2. And today we have your first look at the character.
Check it out in full below.
Hamill plays a vengeful enemy from Laszlo’s (Matt Berry) past who appears without warning to settle a personal debt and causes Laszlo to flee his home and go into hiding.
Hamill talked a bit about the role with EW, saying: “One of the real challenges of working with Matt was trying to keep a straight face when he would improvise. Each line he said was more obscene and profane than the next. Mark Hamill the actor found that hilarious but my character does not. I had to work really hard to try and stay in character the best I could. It was such a great experience and I feel very satisfied with having done it once. But who knows? Never say never.”
Based on the film of the same name, the show is a documentary-style look into the daily (or rather, nightly) lives of four vampires who’ve “lived” together for hundreds of years in Staten Island. After an unexpected visit from their dark lord, the vampires are reminded of what they were initially tasked with upon their arrival in New York City over a century ago — total and complete domination of the New World. But what exactly is the best way to go about achieving said domination? A camera crew follows the vampires who set out to answer this query.
The series was created by Jemaine Clement and stars Kayvan Novak, Natasia Demetriou, Matt Berry, Harvey Guillén, and Mark Proksch. Clement and Waititi are executive producers along with Paul Simms, Scott Rudin, Garrett Basch, and Eli Bush.
It has 94% on Rotten Tomatoes with this Critics Consensus: Delightfully absurd and ridiculously fun, What We Do in the Shadows expands on the film’s vampiric lore and finds fresh perspective in its charming, off-kilter cast to create a mockumentary series worth sinking your teeth into.
