Sure our friends across the pond have all sorts of cool things at their disposal like the Film4 FrightFest and those wacky white-haired judge wigs, but they’ve been sorely missing one thing. Or should we say two things?
From the Press Release
UK distributor 4 DigitalMedia is turning up the heat in May when they release super-camp shlockbuster Elvira’s Haunted Hills via their Jonathan Sothcott Presents imprint.
The follow-up to 80s cult classic Elvira Mistress of the Dark makes its British DVD debut on May 28th, and 4Digital and Sothcott are bringing Elvira herself, genre icon Cassandra Peterson, to London to promote the film. Peterson will be appearing at the London Expo show on the 26th and 27th of May to meet fans and sign DVDs and will be participating in a publicity tour that week.
Sothcott, producer of such schlocky B-movies as Strippers vs. Werewolves and Big Fat Gypsy Gangster, as well as more serious fare such as Riot and Elfie Hopkins, enthused, “As a dedicated fan of the original Elvira film (and who isn’t?), I’m thrilled to be bringing the Mistress of the Dark’s latest screen adventure to British audiences. This is a fun pastiche of classic horror movies we all love, and Elvira is as brilliantly buxom as ever.”
Elvira’s Haunted Hills finds our curvaceous heroine in a whacky spoof of the Hammer Horror and Edgar Allan Poe films of the 60s as she finds herself in a spooky castle whose sinister owner thinks she looks like his late wife. Directed by Sam Irvin with a deft comedic touch, this hilarious horror comedy also features Rocky Horror icon Richard O’Brien as the villain of the piece.
