REMINDER: Dread Central & Impact24 Launch “Dissecting Horror” Series With Live-Streaming Composers Panel TONIGHT!

The love of horror must go on! As we all know, the spread of the Coronavirus has resulted in film festivals, conventions, Q&A’s and basically every human activity being canceled or postponed. Since there are currently precious few opportunities to celebrate the horror genre outside of our homes, Dread Central and Impact24 PR have teamed up to launch a series of live, digital panels: “Dissecting Horror”!

The series will feature horror creatives from behind and in front of the camera. “Dissecting Horror” will be streamed on Dread Central’s Facebook page through Facebook Live (as well as other streaming platforms). Panels will also be made available on our official Youtube channel. The series will kick off Tonight, April 15, 2020, at 6:00 pm PST/9:00 pm EST.

There are many important elements that make a good horror film. The directing, production design, graphics/visual effects, costumes, make up and acting to name a few. Not to mention the film’s score, which can sometimes become so important that it serves as a main character. Examples being, John Carpenter’s original Halloween theme, Bernard Hermann’s piercing Psycho sounds and more recently Disasterpeace’s synth heavy score for the indie hit It Follows. So, for the first panel, going to shine a spotlight on the music of new horror films that are being released in April and May.

Featured panelists include composers Ronen Landa (Dark Sky Film’s 1BR), Devin Burrows (IFC’s The Wretched), Christian Davis (Vertical Entertainment’s Behind You) and Rafaël Leloup (IFC Films’ The Other Lamb).

The debut “Dissecting Horror” panel will be moderated by yours truly!

Synopsis:

Synopsis:

Ben’s problems grow increasingly disturbing when he makes a chilling discovery about the family renting the house next door. A malevolent spirit from the woods has taken ahold of the parents and starts playing a sinister game of house, preying upon the children and wiping away any trace of their existence. Ben’s suspicions of the supernatural horrors go unheeded and he launches a perilous crusade in order to put an end to the skin-walking witch’s reign of terror. Chilling and suspenseful, THE WRETCHED offers a modern update to the retro young hero’s mission like that of The Goonies, and promises to make viewers wary of every dark corner they encounter after witnessing its terrifying tale.

Behind You

Synopsis:
Two young sisters find that all the mirrors in their estranged aunt’s house are covered or hidden. When one of them happens upon a mirror in the basement, she unknowingly releases a malicious demon.

The Other Lamb

Synopsis:
For her entire life, the cult she was born into has been all that teenage Selah (Raffey Cassidy) has known. Along with a band of similarly cloistered young women she lives seemingly unstuck in time, cut off from modern society in a remote forest commune presided over by a man called Shepherd (Michiel Huisman), a controlling, messiah-like figure with a frightening dark side. But when her insular world is rocked by a series of nightmarish visions and disturbing revelations, Selah begins to question everything about her existence—including her allegiance to the increasingly dangerous Shepherd. Awash in images of primal, dreamlike dread, this provocative fable is a haunting vision of adolescent awakening and revolt.

Additional episodes of “Dissecting Horror” will spotlight other upcoming films and filmmakers in the coming weeks and months. It’s all part of our ongoing effort to keep you engaged, enlightened, and entertained during these solitary days.
