The highly anticipated science fiction thriller Vivarium is now available on most VOD services, and we can’t think of a better movie for us to watch while we’re self-isolating at home. After all, it’s a film about being trapped in a maze of houses, so it’s oddly relevant for a time when most people are not supposed to leave their homes. We’ve embedded the trailer for this oddly topical thriller in the player below.
Vivarium stars Jesse Eisenberg and Imogen Poots as a young couple who set out to buy a house for the first time, but soon discover that something far more sinister is going on when they are unable to escape from a maze-like suburban neighbourhood which seemingly does not want them to leave. They eventually learn that the key to escape may lie with a mysterious child who they apparently need to raise.
The film was directed by Lorcan Finnegan, and also stars Danielle Ryan, Jonathan Aris, Molly McCann, and Eanna Hardwicke. It was screened at various festivals throughout the world, including Fantasia, Cannes, Fantastic Fest, the London Film Festival, and Sitges, where Poots won the award for Best Actress. Vertigo Releasing distributed Vivarium in the UK, while Saban Films were responsible for the US release.
Those of you living in the UK can now stream Vivarium on Amazon, Google Play, Curzon Home Cinema, Sky Store, PlayStation, Apple TV, BFI Player, and Google Play, so there’s never been a better time to experience a film about not leaving home.
