Universal Snags Christmas Horror Movie VIOLENT NIGHT

Universal Pictures has acquired a feature pitch by Sonic The Hedgehog and Into the Dark: School Spirit screenwriters Pat Casey and Josh Miller called – wait for it – Violent Night.

While the plot details are currently being kept under tight wraps, we are hearing that the flick is being described as an elevated thriller (urgh) set against the Christmas holiday backdrop.

Sounds good to me!

Deadline reports it will be produced by Kelly McCormick, Annie Marter (Transcendence), and John Wick, Atomic Blonde, Deadpool 2, and Hobbs and Shaw director David Leitch.

Casey and Miller’s Into the Dark: School Spirit centered on a group of social outcasts stuck in weekend detention is confronted by the school’s legendary hauntings. Ironically, the Into the Dark entry was NOT a Christmas-themed adventure but rather one which centered on the holiday… the first day of school? Whatever. Casey & Miller wrote the episode along with director Mike Gan.

It starred Corey Fogelmanis as Brett, Annie Q. as Erica, Jessi Case as Lizzy, Julian Works as Vic, Philip Labes as Russ, and Hugo Armstrong as Mr. Armstrong. STREAM IT HERE.
