This Day in Horror: Happy Birthday Zack Snyder

While Hollywood may always turn to reboots as a kind of crutch, and horror fans may rightly regard these films with trepidation, Zack Snyder’s remake of George A. Romero’s Dawn of the Dead (released in 2004) is widely regarded as one of the best genre offerings of the 21st Century. If it’s been a while, refamiliarize yourself with a modern classic by giving the trailer and synopsis a look-see below.
Synopsis:
When her husband is attacked by a zombified neighbor, Ana (Sarah Polley) manages to escape, only to realize her entire Milwaukee neighborhood has been overrun by the walking dead. After being questioned by cautious policeman Kenneth (Ving Rhames), Ana joins him and a small group that gravitates to the local shopping mall as a bastion of safety. Once they convince suspicious security guards that they are not contaminated, the group bands together to fight the undead hordes.
Though Snyder is mostly known for his prominence in the Super Hero movie arena, he’s set to return to horror with Army of the Dead, currently in post-production.

Snyder directed a commercial for Subaru WRX. He used it in his debut, Dawn of the Dead (2004), as the commercial before the “Special Report” on TV. (Source)
