Sam Raimi’s SHRINE with Jeffrey Dean Morgan Begins Filming

Producer Sam Raimi and writer-director Evan Spiliotopoulos’s adaptation of James Herbert’s Shrine is now filming in Massachusetts with Jeffrey Dean Morgan (The Walking Dead).

And today Deadline reports Jordan Brewster (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning) has withdrawn from the film and has been replaced by Katie Aselton (The Gift, Black Rock).

On top of that development, we also hear this morning that the movie has rounded out its full cast. This includes Cary Elwes (Saw, Stranger Things) and William Sadler (Bill & Ted Face the Music, Tales From the Crypt: Demon Knight).

Other cast includes Diogo Morgado (Son of God, The Bible), Cricket Brown (Dukeland), Marina Mazepa (James Wan’s Malignant), Christine Adams (Love, Death & Robots, Batman Begins), and Bates Wilde (Castle Rock, Shutter Island).

The Screen Gems feature is about a disgraced journalist who discovers a series of seemingly divine miracles in a small New England town and uses them to resurrect his career, but it turns out these ‘miracles’ may have a much darker source.

On top of writing and directing, Spiliotopoulos produces along with Raimi and Rob Tapert.
