Mike Flanagan Surpasses HILL HOUSE With THE HAUNTING OF BLY MANOR?
Netflix and Mike Flanagan’s The Haunting of Bly Manor is set to hit the streaming giant this year. And today we hear from The Haunting of Hill House, The Haunting of Bly Manor, and The Invisible Man star Oliver Jackson-Cohen that season 2 surpasses the first season.
Jackson-Cohen tells Collider: “I have to say, it’s quite strange. It was quite strange at the beginning going back because it’s Victoria Pedretti and I – we both played twins last year – and so we’re back together but we’re in Vancouver, we were in Atlanta last year, and it’s a completely different crew but it’s the same creator. It was very very weird to start off with. It was strange because how do you kind of take a show that was that well received and that loved, how do you do a second version of it? And he’s sort of surpassed it. It’s quite amazing what he’s done with Bly. I go back in about 10 minutes back to Vancouver to go and continue shooting.”
The Haunting of Bly Manor is the much-anticipated second season of the horror anthology series that kicked off with an adaptation of Shirly Jackson’s The Haunting of Hill House.
Based on Henry James’ The Turn of the Screw, season two may follow the novel’s plot which centers on a woman who takes a governess job for two orphans and begins to see what she believes are ghosts, suspecting the kids’ bizarre behavior is the result of supernatural powers.
The Haunting of Bly Manor will see the return of The Haunting of Hill House alumni such as Henry Thomas (E.T.), Victoria Pedretti (You), Kate Siegel (Hush), and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
Season 2 directors include Ciaran Foy (Sinister 2), Yolanda Ramke & Ben Howling (Cargo), Liam Gavin (A Dark Song), Axelle Carolyn (Tales of Halloween), and of course, Mike Flanagan.
