New LineSomething called Cryptozoologists is getting a rewrite for the folks at New Line Cinema. While they’re at it, I’d recommend changing that title, too.

Deadline is reporting that Jason Oremland and Greg Erb (The Return of King Doug) have been tasked with reworking an original script by David Gilcreast. The movie is being touted as in the vein of Men In Black meets Ghostbusters, and the story is as follows: “When frequent sightings of storied mythological creatures start occurring around San Francisco, a skeptic professor and his estranged cryptozoologist brother must band together to save the city. Flynn most recently produced Journey 2: The Mysterious Island for New Line, a film that is closing in on the $300 million gross mark worldwide. Cyptozoologists also has franchise aspirations.”

So there ya have it. Men in Black meets Ghostbusters? Wasn’t that how Dreamworks sold Evolution? And we all remember how that turned out.
