Neon Snags Shirley Jackson Bio Starring Elisabeth Moss

Neon has closed a deal out of the recent Sundance Film Festival for director Josephine Decker’s Shirley Jackson bio Shirley starring Elisabeth Moss (Blumhouse’s The Invisible Man).

The deal for North American rights went for low seven figures.

The flick tells the tale of a young couple that moves in with the famed author, Shirley Jackson, and her Bennington College professor husband, Stanley Hyman. The young couple hopes to start a new life but instead find themselves fodder for a psycho-drama that inspires Shirley’s next novel.

Shirley is directed by Josephine Decker from a script by Sarah Gubbins, the film stars Elisabeth Moss, Michael Stuhlbarg, Odessa Young and Logan Lerman. It’s produced by Elisabeth Moss with Christine Vachon, David Hinojosa, Sue Naegle, Gubbins, Jeffrey Soros, and Simon Horsman.

For those that might not know, Jackson is best known for penning the classic supernatural horror novel The Haunting of Hill House AKA the greatest ghost story ever written.
