BBC’s DRACULA Rises From the Grave on New Year’s Day

BBC & Netflix’s upcoming Dracula miniseries with Claes Bang will consist of three feature-length episodes. And today we’ve learned that it will be unleashed on BBC beginning on new year’s day.

RadioTimes.com reports that all three episodes will then hit Netflix on the first weekend of 2020.

This new miniseries is said to be reinventing Bram Stoker’s classic story for a 21st-century audience. That said, fear not, this miniseries will stay rooted in Victorian times.

According to creators, in this version, Dracula is “the hero of his own story” and will be the main character, rather than “a shadowy villain for more traditional heroes to overcome.” Also, this version is said to be “both faithful and faithless at the same time.” Whatever that means.

It’s developed by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat. Jonny Campbell (Westworld), Damon Thomas (Penny Dreadful), and Paul McGuigan (Victor Frankenstein) directed the three feature-length episodes. All three episodes are written by Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat.

Dracula also stars John Heffernan, Dolly Wells, Joanna Scanlan, Morfydd Clark, Lujza Richter, Mark Gatiss, Jonathan Aris, Sacha Dhawan, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett, Catherine Schell, Youssef Kerkour, Clive Russell, Lyndsey Marshal, Chanel Cresswell, Matthew Beard, and Sarah Niles.

BBC’s Dracula will be broadcast over three consecutive days beginning on January 1, 2020. All three episodes then hit Netflix on Saturday, January 4, 2020.
