James Wan Shares Mysterious MALIGNANT Image

James Wan’s new horror movie Malignant has started shooting in Los Angeles and will eventually go head-to-severed-head with Escape Room 2 in August 2020.
And today Wan took to Instagram to let us all know that filming on the new horror movie is in the homestretch and shared a mysterious new behind the scenes image to celebrate.
The image really isn’t much but it seems to reinforce the idea that James Wan’s Malignant will be a medical fright flick. But maybe not. There’s really no telling at this point in time.
But I can’t wait to find out!

The film stars Annabelle Wallis (Annabelle, The Mummy), George Young (Containment), Jake Abel (Supernatural), Maddie Hasson (God Bless America), Michole Briana White (Encino Man), and Jacqueline McKenzie (Netflix’s Pine Gap).
Plot details are under wraps but Wan has said that he’s super excited to go back to his indie roots with this hard-R thriller. An original horror idea (not a reboot/remake or anything based on existing IP) with old school, practical effects and no giant, blue screen sets.
The “hard-R thriller” with “old school, practical effects” is written by Wan along with The Nun actress Ingrid Bisu, who married Wan earlier this month. Wan will also produces with Michael Clear. The film is being independently financed through Starlight Media and Midas Innovation, who will retain distribution rights in China. The film is currently shooting in Los Angeles.
James Wan’s Malignant will open against Adam Robitel’s Escape Room 2 on August 14, 2020.
