This Day in Horror: Happy Birthday Robert Picardo
Today in 1953, Robert Picardo was born.
EDITOR’S NOTE: Our apologies to Mr. Picardo, this post was originally posted with an image of Don McLeod who appeared as T.C. Quist in the same film.
Picardo’s first feature role was the star of Joe Dante’s The Howling, where he played Eddie Quist, the serial killer/werewolf. He went on to roles in most of Dante’s films, including The Burbs, Matinee, and Gremlins 2: The New Batch.
You may not recognize him under layers of latex, but Picardo played Meg Mucklebones in Legend and a Leprechaun in an episode of Supernatural. The role he is best known for, that of the Emergency Medical Hologram in Star Trek: Voyager, isn’t horror, but sci-fi is horror-adjacent.
His love of science extends to real life. He initially entered Yale as a pre-med student (but ended up graduating from the drama school) and he sits on the executive board of The Planetary Society, a space advocacy non-profit group that was formed by Carl Sagan and is currently led by Bill Nye.
