Zombie Talks Beasto

Haunted World of El Superbeasto update! Now that Rob Zombie is BFF with the Weinstein Company, one has to wonder just how much he’ll be able to get away with. Take his forever-in-the-works animated movie The Haunted World of El Superbeasto, which they’re still in the process of finishing and making sure is not NC-17.

“It’s completely ridiculous. It’s like if Spongebob Squarepants took place in a world full of monsters and strippers and was made for adults.” the rocker-cum-director told Fangoria recently. :”I watched it the other day for the first time, and it’s awesome. It’s so insane; even I was watching it and thinking, ‘I cannot believe someone put millions of dollars into this.” And that’s not because it’s crap, far from it, but because it’s just so goddamn bizarre.

Work continues to finalize the sound and more or less the film is a few weeks out from completion. Personally I’m looking forward to seeing the masked adventures of a washed-up luchadore wrestler battling monsters because, damnit, they just don’t make those sorts of movies these days.
