Developer and publisher Capcom has announced a serious amount of new details concerning Resident Evil 6. Among the biggest reveals were two decisions that will make some fans of the series very happy.

The game’s controls have been overhauled, and they will now allow you to slide, roll in any direction, take cover, use an enhanced melee attack and, most importantly, shoot while moving. It was already revealed that zombies would be back in the series, but now we know that these zombies will be able to do more than simply shamble towards you; these zombies can also run, jump and use weapons of their own much like their Majini cousins did before them.

While cooperative play is still a primary feature in the game, we now have a little bit more information about the characters, including Leon’s apparent partner. Her name is Helena Harper, and she is a government agent that was planning on transferring to the Secret Service in order to become a personal bodyguard of the President before the incident.

Of course, Chris Redfield is back in Resident Evil 6, and his part of the story takes you to the fictional city of Lanshiang, China. The entire game is set in the year 2013; however, Chris seems to be suffering from some horrific event that took place six months prior to him rejoining BSAA to take care of this problem in China.

Then there is the mysterious third protagonist in the game. While Capcom didn’t reveal the name of this character yet, they did allow us to learn a little bit of his personal history by stating in the press release, “We’re still trying to track down his real identity, but we do know this man is a mercenary currently engaged in a bloody conflict in Eastern Europe where reports confirm that B.O.W.s are increasingly being used. One day, he’s told that he is the man to save the world. Whilst he doesn’t understand the implications of this, he does immediately think how much money he can make from it.”

We were already super excited for this title, and now, there are even more reasons to pick it up on November 20, 2012. As always, we’ll be sure to keep you up-to-date as the newest details emerge.
