Jessica Chastain Almost Had a Post-Credits Cameo in IT: CHAPTER ONE!
As soon as IT: Chapter Two was greenlit, fans across the internet began playing “Armchair Casting Director”. While many names were mentioned as possible adult counterparts for the male members of The Losers Club, there was an almost unanimous consensus that Jessica Chastain should play grown-up Beverly Marsh (a role played by Sophia Lillis in 2017).
It turns out, IT director Andy Muschietti had Chastain in mind for the part from the get-go. Not only had the two previously worked together on Mama, we’re getting word that Muschietti wanted to include Chastain in a post-credits cameo from IT: Chapter One back in 2017!
This revelation comes from an article on HuffPost:
Muschietti: “Something a lot of people probably don’t know is Chapter One did have the idea to make a post-credit scene, which was Beverly Marsh picking up the phone. So, 27 years later, post-credit, you would see a phone ringing. It’s an iPhone, so it’s impossible that it’s 1989, and a hand comes in and the camera wraps around this red-haired back of a head, and we turn around, and it’s Jessica Chastain!”
IT: Chapter Two floats into US theaters this week on September 6th. You can check out our review right here in just a couple hours. Check out the synopsis and trailer below.
