A QUIET PLACE Writers Reveal Surprising Inspirations for the Aliens in Early Visual Look Book

If you’ve always thought that the aliens in A Quiet Place bore a striking resemblance to the Demo-gorgon from Stranger Things Season 1, there’s a reason for that. The film’s writers, Bryan Woods and Scott Beck, shared an interesting relic with their Twitter followers: An early visual look book they used to pitch the film.

In addition to setting the tone and aesthetic, it reveals the duos’ inspirations for the film’s aliens. Apparently, they wanted something that resembled both the bi-pedal Demo-gorgon and the blacker-than-black, toothy extraterrestrials from Attack the Block. They also sought practical effects like those used in The Lady in the Water and Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy.

Give the look book a spin for yourself below.

A Quiet Place 2 is currently in production with John Krasinski back in the director’s chair and Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe, and Millicent Simmonds will return as the Abbott family.
