TOOL Announces Release Date For Long-Awaited New Album

2006. That’s when prog rock/metal band Tool released their last album, 10,000 Days. It’s been 13 years since then and the wait, for many, has been interminable. But with the recent reveal of two new songs on their N. American tool, the thought that a new album might surface began to feel very, very real. Now, that feeling is confirmed as the band has revealed the release date for their as-yet-unnamed fifth studio album: August 30.

The band announced the release date by flashing it during an intermission on their recent tour. You can see an image of this below:

That release date will come 13 years, 3 months, and 28 days after 10,000 Days hit shelves, with songs like “Vicarious”, “The Pot”, and “Jambi” becoming Top 10 rock singles and the album reaching double platinum status within a year. While an official single from the new album has yet to be released, the band performed two new songs over the past weekend. Fans dubbed the songs “Descending” and “Invincible” and both are, if I may say so myself, absolutely incredible. Combined, they reach nearly 24 minutes of musical brilliance, so I’m guessing the band is going to squeeze in maybe three or four more songs before they run out of disc space. Just kidding…or am I?
