There’s a Parrot in Brazil Named Freddy Krueger and He’s Survived Several Nightmares

Alright fellow animals lovers, buckle in for this wild ride.

There’s a turquoise-fronted Amazon parrot in Brazil by the name of Freddy Krueger. This parrot has been bitten by a snake, abducted by thieves, and shot in the goddamn face! His scarred visage is the reason he bears the moniker of A Nightmare on Elm Street‘s famous villain.

Folha de S.Paulo explains a bit more about how he suffered his injuries, saying that he was caught in the middle of a shootout between police and a drug gang. “In the shootout, [Freddy] was hit in the upper-beak … blinded and suffered burns to the feathers that grow between the eyes.”

On April 16, Freddy was abducted from a zoo in Cascavel, located in the State of Paraná. But there’s good news! Freddy somehow managed to find his way back to the zoo, the same one he was brought to four years ago after the shootout that disfigured his face. Details aren’t clear as to how he returned but the zoo’s vet, Ilair Dettoni simply stated, “He’s a bit of a wild one.”

Welcome to squawk time, bitch!
