Writer Snagged for THE NUN 2

Gary Dauberman is a behind-the-scenes staple of The Conjuring universe launched by James Wan in 2013. He penned both Annabelle movies as well as the upcoming third installment in the spinoff series, Annabelle Comes Home, arriving in theaters on June 28th. He also penned The Nun, directed by Corin Hardy and released in 2018.

So it might seem like a given that Dauberman would be scripting the planned sequel to The Nun–except he won’t be. Today brings word that The Nun 2 (working title) will be written by Hell Fest/Luke Cage scribe Akela Cooper. Deadline broke the news:

“Cooper is no stranger to the thriller and horror genre. In addition to working on the Netflix Marvel series Luke Cage, she was a writer on the Lionsgate/CBS film Hell Fest and penned the screenplay for the upcoming A.I. doll thriller M3gan from Conjuring Godfather James Wan and Atomic Monster. In addition to Luke Cage, her TV credits include the wildly popular American Horror Story franchise and Netflix’s forthcoming series Jupitor’s Legacy.
