Tread Deeper into PET SEMATARY with New Images from Upcoming Remake

It’s the Year of the King—Stephen King, that is! We’ve got IT: Chapter Two and Doctor Sleep coming down the pike in September and November, along with new seasons of Castle Rock and Mr. Mercedes. Things will kick off in earnest next month with the release of Kevin Kölsch and Dennis Widmyer’s Pet Sematary remake on April 5th.

Regular readers of Dread Central know that I was lucky enough to visit the set of Pet Sematary while the movie was still in production. It was awesome to see it all with my own eyes but (obviously) I wasn’t allowed to take pictures. Luckily, the folks at Total Film and Games Radar recently got their hands on a couple of new images that will give you more of an idea about what to expect.

They both feature Jason Clarke, who stars as Dr. Louis Creed. The first picture sees the actor standing in the midst of the titular Pet Sematary, and the other shows him against a pile of branches and brambles that leads to… sour ground! Give them both a look-see below, followed by the trailer and synopsis for Pet Sematary.

Synopsis:
Dr. Louis Creed and his wife, Rachel, relocate from Boston to rural Maine with their two young children. The couple soon discover a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near their new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his neighbor Jud Crandall, setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unspeakable evil with horrific consequences.

In addition to Clarke, Pet Sematary stars John Lithgow, Amy Seimetz, and Jeté Laurence.

Pet Sematary will have its world premiere this Sunday at the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas.
