Netflix Renews CHILLING ADVENTURES OF SABRINA for Season 3 & 4

A certain teenage witch is on her way to becoming a bonafide horror sensation in the 21st Century. Today brings word that Netflix has renewed The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, based on a spinoff of Archie Comics, for a 3rd and a 4th season. What makes this news especially astonishing is that Season 2 hasn’t even aired yet (it’s set to hit the streaming giant on April 5th).

Obviously, Netflix has a lot of faith in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina—and why not? The series struck a chord with horror fans and mainstream entertainment-seekers alike. It’s a much darker show than past iterations of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, and the series will continue to add new and intriguing characters. For example, Jedidiah Goodacre will play Dorian Gray and Alexis Denisof will play Mary Wardwell’sboyfriend, Adam Masters.
The news came with a statement from executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa:
“Praise Satan! I’m so grateful to my partners at Warner Brothers, Netflix, Berlanti Television, and Archie Productions for supporting this darker vision of the world’s most famous teen witch. And I’m thrilled to be continuing to tell Sabrina’s chilling adventures with our incredible cast and crew, led by the unstoppable Kiernan Shipka.”
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina stars Kiernan Shipka, Miranda Otto, Lucy Davis, Ross Lynch, Michelle Gomez, Chance Perdomo, Jaz Sinclair, Richard Coyle, Tati Gabrielle, Adeline Rudolph, Abigail Cowen, Lachlan Watson, and Gavin Leatherwood.
Synopsis:
This adaptation of the “Sabrina the Teenage Witch” tale is a dark coming-of-age story that traffics in horror and the occult. In the reimagined origin story, Sabrina Spellman wrestles to reconcile her dual nature — half-witch, half-mortal — while standing against the evil forces that threaten her, her family — including aunts Hilda and Zelda— and the daylight world humans inhabit. Kiernan Shipka (“Mad Men”) leads the cast in the titular role of the show that is based on a comic series of the same name.
