Filming Begins on Adam Wingard’s GODZILLA VS KONG
Three days ago, we relayed the official synopsis for Godzilla vs Kong, a film that will serve as a sequel to 2014’s Godzilla, 2017’s Kong: Skull Island, and 2019’s Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Targeting a May 2020 release date, the film’s being directed by Adam Wingard (You’re Next, Blair Witch) from a screenplay penned by Terry Rossio. If you missed it, peep the synopsis below.
In a time when monsters walk the Earth, humanity’s fight for its future sets Godzilla and Kong on a collision course that will see the two most powerful forces of nature on the planet collide in a spectacular battle for the ages. As Monarch embarks on a perilous mission into uncharted terrain and unearths clues to the Titans’ origins, a human conspiracy threatens to wipe the creatures, both good and bad, from the face of the earth forever.
We’re now getting confirmation that Godzilla vs Kong has officially gone before cameras (even before Godzilla: King of Monsters is through post-production, but hey, we’re not complaining). The news also came with the announcement that Lance Reddick (John Wick) has joined the cast; he joins previously-announced cast members Alexander Skarsgård, Millie Bobby Brown, Eiza González, Jessica Henwick, and The Walking Dead’s Danai Gurira (though the latter is merely rumored to be participating at this point).
Since the film is still over 18-months away from being released, we’ll be waiting quite some time still before we get a trailer or any additional details. In the meantime, have a look at the synopsis and trailer for Godzilla: King of the Monsters below.
Synopsis:
Members of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species-thought to be mere myths-rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.
