SUSPIRIA Kills Box-Office in Limited Release

Director Luca Guadagnino’s remake of Dario Argento’s Suspiria is one of our most anticipated releases this November. The film actually opened in two (count ’em out, two) theaters this past weekend, in Los Angeles and New York, and the numbers are in.

Turns out Suspiria KILLED it in those two theaters!

The film opened with an estimated $179,806, delivering a chart-topping $89,903 per theater average. To give you an idea of just how much cash that is, Blumhouse’s Halloween scored a mere $8,031 per theaters this weekend. Granted the new slasher played in close to 4,ooo theaters so it made quite a bit more overall.

Don’t live in LA or NY? No worries, Suspiria will expand into 250 theaters next weekend. I’m really looking forward to this film, which our own Jonathan Barkan checked out at Fantastic Fest and in his review called: “…not a remake but rather a fascinating reimagination of one of horror’s most enduring titles. It lives and breathes in a world of its own, weaving an enchanting, dizzying, and frightening spell.”

Does this make you more excited for the remake? Make sure to hit us up and let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!

Suspiria is directed by Guadagnino and stars Tilda Swinton, Dakota Johnson, Mia Goth, Chloë Grace Moretz, Lutz Ebersdorf, and Jessica Harper. It hits theaters November 2nd.
