Must Read: Trainer Talks Working with New Church on PET SEMATARY Remake

This coming April we will finally see the release of the remake of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary. The flick looks super-cool to me and I’m especially loving the new Church kitty.

And speaking of which, today we have a fun little bit where the new Chruch’s trainer spoke with the Prince George Citizen about the trails and tribulations of filming the remake with the kitten from beyond the grave.

Feline trainer Melissa Millett said five rescued kitties got star treatment and spent 2 months training for 10 weeks of filming, but one backed out after getting spooked on set.

Cats don’t aim to please,” said Millett, “so the film crew made sure they were having fun on the job, providing them with an outdoor “catio” where they could play in between takes.”

The cats shared five trailers during the shoot to accommodate their human team and training needs,” She said. “And one sourpuss had to be separated in its own RV because it didn’t get along with the other animal actors.”

Despite the one acting a fool, Millett said most of the cock-eyed kitties worked well together. The film’s animal co-ordinator adopted two of them, and two went to Millett’s friends. Guess what happened to that sourpuss fifth cat? Yep, Millet kept it herself and named it Tonic.

I think there’s going to be a lot more for these kitties, and they work as a team, so this will continue to be a great team,” she said. “I don’t know how Tonic feels about now being a regular cat. He says, ‘Come on! Excuse me!‘”

NOTE: This is the most delightful story I’ve ever reported on here at Dread Central.

Pet Sematary haunts US theaters beginning April 5, 2019.

Synopsis:
Louis Creed, his wife Rachel and their two children Gage and Ellie move to a rural home where they are welcomed and enlightened about the eerie ‘Pet Sematary’ located near their home. After the tragedy of their cat being killed by a truck, Louis resorts to burying it in the mysterious pet cemetery, which is definitely not as it seems, as it proves to the Creeds that sometimes, dead is better.
