Gamescom 2018: UNTIL DAWN Developer Supermassive Games Announce THE DARK PICTURES ANTHOLOGY
Supermassive Games, the folks behind the horror adventure hit Until Dawn, have announced at Gamescom that they are now working on a new series of standalone cinematic horror titles called The Dark Pictures Anthology.
The first game in the series will be called Man of Medan, which brings supernatural horror to the South Pacific. The story will follow four friends who take a vacation on a boat, but accidentally awaken an ancient horror onboard the wreck of a sunken World War II battleship. Like Until Dawn, the player’s actions will determine the course of the story, and you can also switch between characters whenever you feel like seeing events unfolding from a different point of view. An incredibly creepy trailer for Man of Medan was showcased at the event, along with a warning not to play it alone. Although if you don’t have any friends to join you in co-op, you might not have a choice.
All of The Dark Pictures Anthology games will be published by Bandai Namco, with Man of Medan set to launch on PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime next year. We’re certainly excited to see what else the series has in store, as seeing as we awarded Until Dawn a great score in our original review, we absolutely trust Supermassive Games to deliver the best interactive horror experiences possible.
