Exclusive: Second Annual PollyGrind Film Festival Announces Winners

The 2011 PollyGrind Film Festival recently wrapped up in Las Vegas, and the madman behind the scenes, Chad Clinton Freeman, checked in with Dread Central to share with us exclusively the winners of this year’s fest.
Reveling in everything from arthouse to grindhouse to everything in between, PollyGrind has quickly made a name for itself as one of the up-and-coming premiere genre fests out there due to the success of each year of programming. This year’s big winners (and flicks that will no doubt go on to find audiences soon) include the highly controversial The Bunny Game, The Super, Dear God No!, The Gruesome Death of Tommy Pistol and Ratline.
“I was very happy with the quantity of quality films and the diversity I was able to program this year,” Freeman said. “Being able to world premiere films like Mondo Sexxxx: The Terry Kobrah Story and The Gruesome Death of Tommy Pistol, and being one of the few festivals that’s shown Dear God No!, Ratline, The Los Angeles Ripper and so many more of the great films PollyGrind showcased this year was such an honor.”
“The Bunny Game is the epitome of what PollyGrind is about. Shot with a one-man crew, it looks and sounds great. It’s stylistic; beautiful to look at, while still being horrific and ugly and more importantly, it is like nothing I have ever seen or felt with any cinematic experience. In the tradition of Eric Stanze’s Scrapbook and Shane Ryan’s Amateur Porn Star Killer, The Bunny Game is a very brave film, one that is surely to be misunderstood by many. Both brutal and thought provoking with one of the best on-screen performances ever by an actress, this film truly shakes you to your core,” added Freeman.
Adam Rehmeier, director of The Bunny Game said, “I was so happy to be a part of the PollyGrind Film Festival this year. Chad’s programming is out of sight- its ten days of Cinema’s bastards and red-headed step children on display under one roof and I’m already looking forward to next year’s program.”
Director James Bickert, who landed a few nods for his flick Dear God No! discussed his feelings regarding his involvement with the festival this year. “PollyGrind meant the world to us because its run by people who respect and cherish genre films. It’s the friendliest festival for off kilter cinema that I’ve experienced and I will be back for years to come regardless of a film entry because it’s the real deal. Chad and his staff get it. They respect film and filmmakers and I’m ecstatic Dear God No! won amongst such a diverse lineup of quality films.”
