De Niro Joins Phoenix’s JOKER

Well, this new Joaquin Phoenix Joker flick just got a lot more interesting! Looks like none other than Mr. Robert De Niro is in talks to joining Phoenix in the upcoming standalone origin film.

THR reports De Niro would play “a talk show host who is somehow instrumental in the Joker’s origin.” Interestingly enough, if De Niro does sign on to the film, it will mark his first foray into the world of comic book movies.

De Niro would also be joining the recently cast Zazie Beetz as “a single mother who catches the attention of the Joker prior to his transformation into the nihilistic Gotham City villain.”
