Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther, 12 Years a Slave) has confirmed via Twitter that she will be starring in Jordan Peele’s sophomore film US, which already has a release date of March 15, 2019. If talks move as many hope, she will star alongside Winston Duke, who was also in Black Panther.

Little is known so far about the film but sources are saying that it centers around two couples, one black and one white. Nyong’o and, if locked down, Duke would play the former while Elizabeth Moss, also still in talks, will play half of the latter.

Us is being produced by Peele, Jason Blum, and Sean McKittrick. Peele is producing through his Monkeypaw Productions banner alongside partner Ian Cooper.

Peele’s debut film Get Out was a box office sensation, earning over $30 million in its opening weekend and ultimately taking in over $255 million worldwide against a $4.5 million budget. The film won Best Screenplay at the Academy Awards and swept the African-American Film Critics Association, winning every award it was nominated for, including Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Actor. That’s but a handful of the nominations and wins the film garnered throughout various award platforms.

Expectations are high for Us but I think Peele has proven that he’s a force to be reckoned with.
