Rabbits Rampage in Hi-Def as Scream Factory Details Their NIGHT OF THE LEPUS Blu-ray Details

Attention! Attention! Ladies and gentlemen, attention! There is a movie about a herd of killer rabbits headed to Blu-ray and Scream Factory desperately wants your money!

Ah, Night of the Lepus; one of the all-time great schlock cinema masterpieces — the first, last, and only motion picture about herd of hormone-infused, oversized, man-eating bunnies terrorizing Texas. With Night of the Lepus there is no limit to the horror… or the hilarity!

The fine folks at Scream Factory have decided to grace us with a special edition Blu-ray of the bonkers nature gone amok flick that pits the stars of Psycho, Motel Hell, Eaten Alive, and Star Trek in mortal peril by a stampede of ravenous rabbits. I honestly never thought this day would come.

That day comes June 19th when William F. Claxton’s 1972 ecological insanity arrives in a surprisingly loaded Blu-ray, especially considering almost everyone involved in any substantial way has long since passed away.

A hormone intended to alter the breeding cycle of rabbits overrunning Arizona ranchlands instead turns them into flesh-eating, 150-pound monsters in Night of the Lepus! Stuart Whitman (Eaten Alive), Janet Leigh (Psycho), Rory Calhoun (Motel Hell) and DeForest Kelley (Star Trek) are among the intrepid humans facing off against the behemoth bunnies, using guns, flames, dynamite and anything else in their grasp to battle their oversized, hungry tormentors.

Special features included on the disc include:

  • Brand new remaster of the movie struck from the original film elements
  • New audio commentary track with author Lee Gambin (Massacred by Mother Nature: Exploring the Natural Horror Film)
  • A second audio commentary with Pop Culture historian Russell Dyball
  • Theatrical Trailer
  • TV Spot
  • Radio Spot
  • Still Gallery
  • Optional English subtitles for the main feature

Somehow I had never heard of this author or his book “Massacred by Mother Nature: Exploring the Natural Horror Film” until just this very moment and now I’m going to have to rush out and order that in addition to this Blu-ray. Geez, I’m not made of money, people!
